1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Kodetime, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our app.

2. Description of Service

Kodetime is an AI-powered task estimation application for macOS that helps developers estimate project tickets using artificial intelligence. The service includes:

  • AI-powered task time estimation using Claude AI
  • Project management and ticket tracking
  • GitHub and GitLab integration for issue import
  • Technology stack detection
  • Local data storage with SwiftData

3. API Key Requirements

Kodetime requires you to provide your own Anthropic API key to use AI estimation features:

  • You are responsible for obtaining and maintaining your Anthropic API key
  • API usage charges from Anthropic are your responsibility
  • You must comply with Anthropic's terms of service
  • Your API key is stored securely in your local macOS Keychain

4. Third-Party Integrations

GitHub / GitLab

When you connect to GitHub or GitLab:

  • You authorize Kodetime to access repositories you select
  • You must comply with GitHub's and GitLab's terms of service
  • OAuth tokens are stored in your local Keychain
  • You can disconnect integrations at any time

5. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your API keys
  • The accuracy of information you provide to the app
  • Ensuring you have authorization to access connected repositories
  • Using the app in compliance with applicable laws

6. AI Estimation Disclaimer

Time estimates generated by AI are provided for guidance only. We do not guarantee:

  • The accuracy of any time estimate
  • That estimates will match actual development time
  • That estimates are suitable for project planning or billing

AI estimates should be reviewed and validated by experienced developers before use in project planning or client communications.

7. Intellectual Property

Kodetime and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Wilder Lopez and are protected by intellectual property laws. Your project data and tickets remain your property.

8. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer or modify the app
  • Use the app for any illegal purpose
  • Share or distribute API keys through the app
  • Attempt to bypass any security features
  • Use the app to access repositories without authorization

9. Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:

  • The app will be error-free or uninterrupted
  • AI estimation will always be available
  • Third-party integrations will remain functional
  • Your data will never be lost

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to:

  • Inaccurate time estimates
  • API usage charges from third-party services
  • Loss of data or project information
  • Business decisions based on AI estimates

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We will notify you of significant changes.

12. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time. We may terminate or suspend access to the app for violation of these terms.
